Maybe you've heard this story before. It starts something like this:
There once was a woman who found a lump where one should never be…
Sadly, it's the story for far too many women and men, some of whom I've been honored to meet since founding this company.
My mother was the woman in a story that started like this. Though there was no history of breast cancer in the family, she found a lump close to the lymph nodes under her arm, just to the side of one breast.
Whenever I tell my mom's story, all the memories and feelings come flooding back. The anxiety and uncertainty throughout her treatments. The questions of "why did this happen to her?" The determination to live differently, choose differently in the aftermath.
But one of the strongest feelings I have of that time is gratitude. I am so grateful for the compassion, knowledge, and skill of the caregivers who treated my mother.
I am fortunate enough to say that I am the daughter of a survivor. For so many others, the story ends differently.
That's why, starting in 2018, I want to invite you to help write a happy ending to the story for others facing this terrible disease.
Your Purchase Helps Save Lives
Now, every time you purchase a full-sized stick of SmartyPits deodorant—whether it's in our online store, through a SmartyPits subscription, or at a local store that carries us—we will donate a portion of the proceeds to breast cancer research at City of Hope, a world-class center for innovative treatments and cutting edge study in the search for a cure. More details about this collaboration will be coming soon, as we're in the final stages of working out our ongoing agreement!
We profiled the program at City of Hope last year, when we donated 100% of the proceeds from our limited edition Breast Cancer Awareness deodorant in October. When I saw from that campaign just how big an impact SmartyPits could make, I knew that I wanted to expand our efforts.
In just one month with just one deodorant, you helped us to support Dr. Mark LaBarge's Breast Cancer and Aging Study last year. With a donation for every deodorant sold throughout the year, who knows the good we can do?
So spread the word! Together, we can help fight cancer and help the world go aluminum-free, one stick at a time.
