MD Anderson Immunologist Awarded 2018 Nobel Prize for Cancer Research

October is not only Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It's also the season for Nobel prize announcements!

This year, Dr. Jim Allison, Chair of Immunology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center was awarded the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for launching an effective new way to attack cancer by treating the immune system rather than the tumor.

When we visited City of Hope in June, we learned how researchers there are using the technique pioneered by Dr. Allison in order to develop new treatments for cancer. (You can read all about our visit to City of Hope on our blog.)

SmartyPits is proud to support both of these amazing institutions. Over the past two years, we have donated nearly 1,000 deodorants to MD Anderson's annual Survivorship Conference. And year to date, we've donated nearly $14,000 to City of Hope through our Give Back program!

Thank you for helping us to change lives for the better…one stick at a time.
